I've been hearing about Olight for a couple of years now. I've seen fan pages made on Facebook with an almost cult like following. There are people out there that collect the lights as collectables.
So when I was asked to take a look at their new BALDR RL mini pistol/Laser light, I was definitely intrigued and anxious to see what all the hype was about.
I will start off by saying, I was not dissapointed. The BALDR RL mini is a compact, well built bargain for the price. Putting out around 600 lumens, it easily lights up the area. I was incredibly surpised at how bright this small light is. With a max run time of 40 mins and a max light throw of 130 meters, this makes for an excellent light for a concealed carry weapon.
The body is made from an Alluminum alloy with plastic switches and weighs in at 3.21oz
The length is 2.24 inches
Head diameter 1.29 inches
and body diameter at 1.41 inches.
It is powered by a 3.7v rechargable lithium polymer battery that is built in.
Upon receiving the light, I installed it on my Glock 19. The installation is easy on any weapon with a rail mount by using the flip out quick lever. The whole package has a built in rail system that allows you to adjust where the light sits on your weapon, which enables you to adjust where your finger will hit the switch.
Speaking of the switch, it is adjusable by sliding left and right through 3 positions.
Those position are: Laser only, Light and Laser together, and Light only.
The light comes equipped with ambidextrious finger switches and are made for constant or intermittent lighting by the amount of pressure applied to the switch.
When thinking about running both the light and the laser at the same time, you might think the light drowns out the visibility of the laser. This is not the case. I was able to clearly see the brightness of the laser while running the light. The laser adjustment screws are located on the right side of the BALDR RL mini and easily adjust with the included allen wrench.
One of the features you'll find across the Olight collection of lights, is their innovative magnetic charging cables. This is one of my favorite features of the BALDR RL mini. You plug the cable into any USB charging outlet, and then the magnet connects itself to the bottom of the light for easy charging and no worn out cable ends.
Olight is having a flash sale on this incredible light, so snag one quick while you can!
